Couple hopes to build new homes in Africa

SEMINOLE – Chuck Oldanie of Seminole has been actively involved with Habitat for Humanity for about 15 years through his membership in the Seminole Lake Rotary Club.
His efforts have taken the 67-year-old Realtor to Bay St. Louis, Miss., Mexico and Belize to build homes.
But now Oldanie and his wife Betty are embarking on something much bigger. This week they will leave for the African republic of Malawi on a 10-day trip to establish the roots for a similar home construction program there.

SEMINOLE – Candidate qualifying for the March 10 municipal election for two council seats on the Seminole City Council will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 9 a.m. and end Monday, Dec. 15, 4 p.m.

Youth takes aim at World Juggling event
SEMINOLE – Some people juggle their schedules. Others juggle their budget to make ends meet. But 15-year-old Daniel Brown of Seminole juggles for fun ... and he’s pretty good at it.
How good is he? Good enough to entertain large impromptu groups in airports and grocery stores. And good enough to compete in the World Juggling Federation’s World Competition Dec. 17 to 23 in Las Vegas.

Seminole boys earn trip to state cross country meet
SEMINOLE – Seminole High School’s boys cross country team earned a spot in this weekend’s state meet by finishing third in the Class 3A-Region 3 championship Nov. 14 at Estero High School.
The Warhawks will be among the 48-team field for the state meet, which is set for Saturday, Nov. 22, at Little Everglades Ranch in Dade City.

| Pair arrested after shooting at Boomerz
SEMINOLE – Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested two men in connection with a shooting incident that took place Nov. 9 at a Seminole nightclub.

| Deputy shoots at burglary suspect
SEMINOLE – A Largo man was shot at by a deputy and arrested for armed burglary after deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle call.
