CLEARWATER - As part of a campus-wide celebration of Americana, the Salonnieres, the salon actors group of Regency Oaks, will present Wings of Patriotic Love on Tuesday, July 14, 2 to 4 p.m.
The all-resident production features three soloists, a piano piece and a sing-along chorus featuring 20 Salonnieres, performing in the community’s Grand Lobby, 2720 Regency Oaks Blvd.
According to show director Ben Termine, Wings of Patriotic Love probes the roots of patriotic love and asks, What are the things in life that are worth fighting for? And at what price is the glory that makes a man or woman lay down his or her life for his or her country?
“The sing-a-long will feature some old chestnuts, like America the Beautiful and This Land is Your Land and many not so familiar like, Give me Your Tired and Your Poor and Brighten the Corner Where You Are,” Termine said.
In addition, he said, perennially popular oldies like I Believe, The Sound of Music, Climb Every Mountain and Bluebird of Happiness will be presented in a fresh new way.
“The program combines the stimulating energy of patriotic songs with a passionate look at the roots of patriotic love,” Termine said.
Wings of Patriotic Love is free and open to the public with advance reservations. Reserve seats by calling 727-252-0540.
Regency Oaks, known as “the life care community too active to retire,” is situated on 40 oak-shaded acres in a quiet corner of Clearwater. It offers an active lifestyle enriched by programs and services to inspire “living wise and well.”
