CLEARWATER - Talk about a "power trio." Joe Walsh, Dale Peters and Jimmy Fox will ride into Ruth Eckerd Hall on Sunday, Aug. 27, 8 p.m., as part of the long-awaited James Gang Rides Again summer tour, which started on Aug. 9.
Fans of the James Gang haven't seen this group of musicians on tour together since 1971 - 35 years ago, and interest has been high since the April announcement of the summer reunion tour.
The James Gang formed in Cleveland Ohio in 1966. The original members were Jim Fox, drummer; Tom Kriss, bassist; Ronnie Silverman, guitarist; Glen Schwartz, guitarist; and Phil Giallmobardo, keyboardist.
In 1968, Joe Walsh replaced Schwartz, and the band released its debut album "Yer' Album." In 1969, Dale Peters replaced Kriss, and the band released its second album "James Gang Rides Again."
In 1971, Walsh left the band to perform solo and later joined The Eagles.
After several concert tours and more albums, the James Gang broke up in 1976 after a final recording, Jesse Come Home. Jim Fox was the only remaining member.
Walsh, Peters and Fox reunited to perform at an election rally for Bill Clinton in 1996, appearances on "The Drew Carey Show" in the 1998-99 season and at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in February 2001.
Tickets to the Clearwater concert at $102, $77 and $57. For tickets, call 791-7400 or visit www.rutheckerdhall.com.
Ruth Eckerd Hall is at 1111 North McMullen Booth Road.
